Delhi is the National Capital Territory of India located in Northern part of India. It is often referred as Dilli by Hindustanis (Indians). Since 6th century BC Delhi has been variedly and consistently inhabited. It has seen some of the good times of the Medieval Era of Kings and demolition during British Raj and post-independence of India for several political reasons. The urban region of Delhi has received the special status of being National Capital Region (NCR) consisting of many cities namely – Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Neharpur (Greater Faridabad), Bahadurgarh, Panipat, Sonepat, Rohtak, Karnal, Rewari, Bhiwani, Meerut, Baghpat, Bhagatpur, Alwar and other towns nearby. Delhi has its own Chief Minister – Shri Arvind Kejriwal and is jointly administered by the Federal Govt. of India and the local Govt. of India as it is the Capital.

1) Qutub Minar – The tallest brick Minaret made by Qutb- ud –Din Aibak in 1200 CE has balconies made with elaborate inscriptions. The top Storey of Qutub Minar was reconstructed by Firoz Shah Tughlaq in marble.

3) Red Fort- Popularly known as ‘Lal Qila, it has Diwan-e-Aam that is built with beautiful arches and a royal throne standing under a marble canopy. Diwan-e-khas on the other hand is adorned with floral inlays, painted and gilded; housing the popular Peacock Throne of Mughal Rulers. Rent a car to cover all the important tourist places in Delhi.

4) Jantar Mantar- At Jantar Mantar we can find a huge Sun dial (named as Samrat Yantra) which has a time accuracy of two seconds. It has a collection of 13 astronomical instruments built under the supervision of Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur by the order of Mughal Emperor – Muhammad Shah for annual revision of astronomical tables and calendars.

5) Drive through – Rashtrapati Bhawan, India Gate and Parliament House. Stop over at these places are prohibited, hence travelers are requested to drive through and click pictures only.

6) Teen Murti Bhawan- Patriotic feelings arise by visiting this important place in the political history of India as it houses the relics of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and a War memorial column with statues of 3 soldiers.

7) Indira Gandhi Memorial- Must see the relics of Indira Gandhi and the assassination spot of Rajiv Gandhi.

8) Purana Qila- Boating at the Lake of Purana Qila & Sound, lights show at the Qila add up fun in the tourism.

9) Akshardhaam- Swaminarayan Akshardhaam is constructed by BAPS in the year 2005. Must explore the magnificent edifices of the main Mandir, water show held in evening, step-well styled courtyard, Abhishek Mandap and open gardens. It has a canteen which has numerous food stalls of different culture.



If we talk about the best places to hop on for lunch in Delhi, one can find the most mouth-watering dish serving places like Nirulas or Saravan Bhawan (serving South Indian veg food) near Connaught Place or Chandni Chowk – Paranthe wali Gali, Darya Ganj, Chawri Bazar (Suggested).
